John Stevens now the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) was the former Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Recovering American Veterans (RAV) for the last 15 years. Serving as the COO the program flourished and grew to new heights under his supervision. After graduating from Stanford University with a business degree he decided to further his education at Penn University earning a master’s degree in business as well. He was then hired to work with United Way as the director over the northeast offices after interning with them throughout his time in graduate school.
He worked with United Way for 10 years and then after the events of 9-11 and the emergence of a need for more veteran help he teamed up with one of his fellow co-workers from United Way and started their own charity where he served as COO until his recent hire with WWP. Mr. Stevens comes from a family of soldiers and was a reserve himself. He has acquired countless nonprofit awards for his work and is looking to continue that with WWP.
He was born in San Diego, CA and has been married for 30 years now with three children (two boys and one girl).
